"and we're worried about saving GM"

I read this in a blog today talking about the loss of one of our student's. The blog, I read & cried through, is from a family who's child died at age 7 from the same disease Erin died of - Neuroblastoma.

It made me think... if all this money "we" just gave to GM, AIG, and all the other trillion dollar companies was put into cancer research, how many children's lives could we save? The world looses outstanding individuals every day because "we" think its more important that society has American made cars to drive. Why not - instead of laying off all those people - educate them and put them to work researching and finding ways to make our society safer, healthier, happier... It does more than give them a job, it would give them a purpose and help our society get better. Pay them to go sit in schools and tutor kids, pay them to help the elderly feel worthy of life, pay them to mentor troubled teens and be the positive person some of those kids need. Why not spend that money on our entire community instead of our big business. Why not spend that money saving lives - all lives.

I know this probably doesn't make sense, but either does letting great kids die every day...
