A month ago... was my last post, all about JoJo's nose... great news is it is totally better with no scar and you can not tell that she had any issues at all!
Basketball ended... we did not win, but we did play ok - I am so glad that the season is over!
Track started... oh track season... we have 7 8th graders on the track team, and are those 7 8th graders the fast ones??? nope! The 7th grade numbers are better, but still... what is the term the kids use... embarrassed! Our first track meet is today - yay... (delayed post... we had 1 first place, 1 second place, and tons of 4th places... my thrower got 4th and 5th in shot and disc, and my high jumper got 3rd! It was not nearly as bad as I expected and I am looking forward to the next meet)
Grad School... I love grad school. I completely love going to A&M for graduate school, I have learned so much and discovered so much about myself and my views on my job and current location. I had to drop one course because of softball, but that is allowing me to really focus on this one amazing class. We are really digging deep into race and the different views on what I have spent so many years believing to be normal. It is rough at times to have to re-evaluate life and my views on it, but I know now I will be a better teacher, coach, mother and wife because of it --(the latter 2 will be way later in life)
Softball!!! I absolutely LOVE coaching softball. I'm doing the JV white and JV silver team -- Silver is what I call the real JV and white is the "Bryan ISD doesn't cut, so you can play on this team" team. It is so refreshing to have athletes that really do want to be there! You tell them something that will help them... and they do it, no arguing! It rocks!!!! My white team is 1-0-1 but made an impressive comeback to get the tie! My silver team is 0-2 but both losses are against varsity teams, so I am really excited to see them perform in district!
TAKS TEST is coming fast! I am not ready, my kids are not ready, and It is completely wearing me out! AAAHHH
Fat Tuesday -- Mardi Gras :-D Javier and I went to New Orleans this past weekend. I had a softball tournament on Thursday, so I was off all day, and we left at 5:30 on Friday for Waller to drop off JoJo with my dad for the weekend, then to Sarah Perez-Croy's house! We picked up Jonathan - Sarah's husband - and were off to LA. We got to mile marker 4 in Louisiana when we saw a car do 2 360's and run into a passenger bus. Everyone was ok, and we avoided any contact, but it was scary! We rolled into our hotel fairly early on Friday and caught a parade! It was a good time! Saturday we went to the French Quarter and to the aquarium, just Javier and I - it was awesome!!! Then we went to Harrah's Casino - Javier kicked butt at Roulette, so we went back and bought 3 jazz paintings from a guy at the French Quarter! Then we went back to the hotel and met some crazy people at their restaurant. Sunday Javier and I spend the day in the room sleeping... Sounds boring I know, but we've been so busy that it was absolutely amazing! I had another softball game on Monday night, so we left at 6:30 on Monday morning and waved goodbye to New Orleans!
Though the weekend was fun, I payed for it this week. Monday's games lasted forever, so we did not get back to the school until 11. Tuesday we had morning track practice, then I had to scout for softball - in Killeen... needless to say, I got home at around 11 again. Wednesday was track practice in the morning again, but followed by a gang awareness faculty meeting and grad class - with 2 presentations - that night. Wednesday was the early day, I was home at 9:00! Thursday track practice then track meet left me out until nearly midnight! Friday was good because we had no track and nothing after school. I left work at 4:45 and went to Terrazzos to have Sangrea with DOBBY!!!!
Today Dob's and I went to Lick Creek Park for a good hour and a half hike. JoDee had a blast! HOPEFULLY, tonight we will grill it up and have a great time with terrific friends! yay!
